Nearly 30 years ago, Dwight Tracy was personally recruited and hired by Winthrop P. Rockefeller as a yacht broker for Allied Marine. By proving himself in a competitive and select environment, Tracy worked diligently and rose through the ranks to a top management position within the Rockefeller organization. In the early 1990’s Tracy acquired Allied Marine and rechristened the company The Allied Marine Group (AMG). In the course of better than 20 years spent managing and building every area of AMG, Tracy took the company from a single location on the Miami River to what has been regarded as a global marine powerhouse, creating the largest privately-held yacht sales and service dealership in the world. AMG operations included new production yacht sales, super yachts, brokerage, service, charter, real estate, finance and insurance, ship stores, and dry storage.
As Owner, Chairman and CEO of The Allied Marine Group, Tracy took great pleasure in the challenge of growing the company, while never losing sight of the contributions of the many associates of AMG. With Tracy’s guidance, AMG pioneered many of the successful practices that are seen today in the Marine Industry. Additionally, his introduction of the first Super Yacht division exposed him to numerous transactions of custom yachts of the highest pedigree, such as Feadship. During his AMG years Tracy established relationships with many Fortune 500 executives and captains of industry, cultivating an international client base of highly recognized names.
Despite his success at AMG, there were other horizons toward which Tracy’s gaze turned. Displaying sensitivity and foresight to the coming changes with the marine industry, Tracy sold The Allied Marine Group to ARB Marine in 2001. In January of 2004, Dwight Tracy formed a new company specializing in yacht sales and marine service. That company is Dwight Tracy & Friends. Utilizing a near 30-year career’s worth of alliances with proven marine professionals, his vision for the new company was to create the comprehensive resource for yacht buyers and sellers.
